KLANG – A total of 909 compounds were issued to illegal dumping offenders following enforcement actions carried out by the Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) during the first nine months of this year.

MBDK Corporate Communications Director Norfiza Mahfiz said that of the total, 576 compounds had been paid, generating RM247,360 in revenue.

She said the enforcement actions followed the detection of 103 illegal dumping cases through MBDK’s closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance system, compared with 109 cases recorded during the same period last year.

“The use of CCTV technology enables MBDK to conduct more systematic monitoring and helps identify vehicles and individuals suspected of being involved in illegal dumping activities.

“Compound notices and seizure actions are carried out under the Refuse Collection, Removal and Disposal By-Laws 2007 (UUK PPPS),” she said in a statement today.

She added that MBDK’s CCTV Unit also assisted other enforcement agencies, having received 24 requests for CCTV footage from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) as of 30 September to support investigations.

According to her, in September alone, a total of 4,128 CCTV recordings related to illegal dumping detection were captured, with eight illegal dumping incidents identified.

“Of these, two compounds have been issued, while the remaining six cases are still undergoing information-gathering processes in collaboration with the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM),” she said.
