KUALA LUMPUR – The government has announced Special Financial Assistance of RM1,500 for 1.3 million civil servants in Grade Utama B and below, including contract appointees.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Special Financial Assistance of RM750 would also be provided to all government retirees, including pensionable and non-pensionable veterans.

“Payments will be made in two instalments, before Aidilfitri and in conjunction with the lead-up to the 70th anniversary of Malaysia’s independence,” he said while tabling Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said the government had agreed to implement a one-off promotion exercise under the Special for Incumbent (Khas Untuk Penyandang) scheme for 12,000 officers from the Top Management Group and the Management and Professional (P&P) Group.

He said the promotion exercise aims to recognise outstanding officers who have been awaiting career advancement due to limited available positions.

“In addition, the government will increase the total maternity leave entitlement throughout an employee’s service from 360 days to 490 days.

“This means the maximum maternity leave entitlement will be increased to 98 days per childbirth.

“The government has also allocated RM20 million to improve childcare centres at government facilities,” he said.
