KLANG – A total of 12 residential premises along Jalan Teratai, Meru, were inspected by the Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) during an integrated operation aimed at curbing the misuse of residential properties as unlicensed business premises.

The operation, involving MBDK’s Licensing Department, Enforcement Department and Building Department, also targeted unlicensed business activities operated by foreign nationals.

In a statement, MBDK said inspections found that seven premises were still carrying out business activities, including grocery stores, food preparation and the sale of alcoholic beverages.

“Five other premises were found to have ceased operations, while seven inventory notices were issued for the seizure of business-related items,” MBDK said in a statement on Wednesday.

In a separate operation in South Klang, MBDK also detected several premises operating unlicensed snooker entertainment centres, cyber centres and extreme games centres.

MBDK said one seizure was carried out under Section 6(1) of the Entertainment and Places of Entertainment Enactment 1995, while two other seizures were conducted under the Cyber Centre and Cyber Café By-Laws (MPK) 2007.

In addition, a closure notice was issued to an unlicensed entertainment premises.

“Meanwhile, an inspection at Persiaran Masjid Sultan, Pulau Indah, found that a restaurant and a mini market were being operated by foreign nationals without valid business licences.

“Following the inspection, two seizures were carried out under the Licensing of Trades, Businesses and Industries By-Laws (MPK) 2007, while another seizure was conducted under the Food Establishment Licensing By-Laws (MPK) 2007.”
