KLANG – An illegal market involving foreign nationals at Jalan Pelaburan, Klang Utama, here, was raided in an integrated operation conducted by the Royal City Council of Klang (MBDK).

The operation, involving the MBDK Licensing Department and Enforcement Department, was carried out to curb unlicensed hawking activities and ensure that all business premises and hawkers comply with the prescribed by-laws and licensing requirements.

MBDK said enforcement action, including seizure, was taken against 10 foreign hawkers found operating without licences.

“Among the items seized were weighing scales, vegetables, live chickens, tables, chairs and fruits, which were subsequently taken to the depot.

“In addition, two business premises were also subjected to seizure action, involving a food outlet and an illegal number forecasting premises,” it said in a statement on Facebook on Tuesday.

According to MBDK, enforcement officers also seized a gas stove and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, fans and weighing scales at the food outlet. At the illegal number forecasting premises, a portable printer and mobile phones were seized.

MBDK stressed that it would not compromise with any individual or premises found violating the law in its efforts to ensure the peace, safety and well-being of the Klang community.

“In the same operation, three compounds were also issued for violations of the Trade, Business and Industrial Licensing By-Laws (MPK) 2007 and the Advertisement By-Laws (MPK) 2007,” the statement said.
