KLANG, 4 Oct (MalaysiaAktif) – The Klang Arts, Cultural Heritage and Tourism Festival 2026 served as a platform to strengthen Klang’s identity as a heritage-based tourism destination through a variety of cultural programmes and unique culinary offerings that attracted thousands of local and international visitors. The two-day festival, organised by the Klang Royal City Council (MBDK), was held at Padang Laman Seni, Safari Jejak Warisan Klang, as part of efforts to preserve, appreciate and promote the city’s rich arts, cultural heritage and unique history. MBDK Mayor Dato’ Abd. Hamid Hussain said the festival reflected the local authority’s continued commitment to ensuring that the district’s historical identity remains preserved. “As a Royal City steeped in history, Klang is not only an economic hub but also an invaluable repository of our nation’s heritage. “This festival is a manifestation of MBDK’s sustained commitment to preserving, appreciating and promoting our local heritage arts so that they remain relevant and enduring. We want to ensure that Klang’s unique identity and character continue to thrive and are passed on to future generations,” he said in his speech at the opening ceremony here yesterday. His speech was delivered by MBDK Deputy Mayor Mohd Zary Affendi Mohd Arif. He said that through initiatives such as the Safari Jejak Warisan Klang, MBDK not only promotes local products and supports Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) entrepreneurs, but also strengthens Klang’s branding as a world-class tourism destination that should be on every visitor’s itinerary. MBDK also hopes that the community and visitors will play an active role in appreciating and safeguarding Klang’s heritage while becoming “heritage ambassadors” by promoting the city’s unique attractions through social media platforms. Throughout the two-day programme, a wide range of family-friendly activities was organised, including Klang Food Paradise, featuring the Sambal Festival, Coffee Festival, Lontong Festival and Cendol Festival. Other highlights included cultural performances, a traditional attire competition along the iconic Royal Klang Town Heritage Walk, a 3D light projection show, traditional sports exhibitions, a children’s colouring competition and lucky draws. |
