lrt3: mbdk bakal sedia laluan pejalan kaki, pasang lampu demi keselamatan pengguna

SHAH ALAM, 29 JUNE: Royal City Council of Klang (MBDK) will strengthen connectivity facilities around the Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) stations, including providing pedestrian pathways and installing street lights to ensure the comfort and safety of users.

Its Mayor, Dato’ Abdul Hamid Hussain, said the initiative will be implemented after receiving feedback from users during the early phase of LRT3 operations, in collaboration with the service operator.

“LRT3 was only launched yesterday, so we will monitor user feedback during this trial period. We will assess the needs of the public and work together with the LRT operator.

“As the local authority, if there are any issues raised or reported, we will address them. If there are dark areas, we will provide lighting to prevent users from falling into drains or tripping,” he told Media Selangor.

He said MBDK will also ensure that safety aspects and access to the stations receive proper attention so that the public can use public transportation more comfortably.

However, Abdul Hamid said parking constraints around the stations are expected to be among the initial challenges following the opening of LRT3. Therefore, he hoped Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd would expand feeder bus services to reduce dependence on private vehicles.

“We hope this LRT service will make travelling easier for residents. Within the MBDK administrative area, there are nine stations starting from Bandar Baru Klang to Johan Setia. Another station will be utilised at a later stage.

“As a local authority, we strive to ensure that the daily journeys of the community in this district are not disrupted by connectivity issues,” he said.

Last week, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari instructed all local authorities (PBT) to review public transportation connectivity facilities in Selangor to ensure users enjoy comfortable and safe journeys.

He also stressed that the State Government is prepared to provide additional allocations if required to improve related facilities.

Starting today, the public can enjoy free LRT3 Shah Alam Line and feeder bus services for one month in conjunction with the official opening of the new route.

The initiative was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the official launch of the LRT3 Shah Alam Line at the Johan Setia Depot yesterday.
