KUALA LUMPUR, 4 APRIL: Selangor has introduced a new tourism initiative through its participation in the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair 2026, held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). This participation sees the Selangor Pavilion bringing together 86 exhibitors from various segments of the tourism industry, including eco-tourism, theme parks, cultural heritage, and hospitality. Tourism EXCO Dato’ Ng Suee Lim said the three-day program, which began yesterday, is targeting up to 400,000 visitors to the Selangor Pavilion. According to him, the participation also strengthens strategic collaboration with agencies and tourism industry players, in line with the Visit Selangor Year and Visit Malaysia Year 2026 campaigns. “Among the main highlights is the launch of new tourism packages by the Royal Klang Municipal Council (MBDK), focusing on community-based tourism rooted in cultural heritage, history, and gastronomy in Klang. “This initiative offers a more authentic and comprehensive tourism experience for both domestic and international tourists,” he said. He said this when met after the Launch Ceremony of the Klang Tourism Package at the main stage of MATTA Fair today. According to him, among the tourism products highlighted are the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery, Royal Klang Town Heritage Walk, Tanjung Harapan, Klang seafood cuisine, GM Klang, Jalan Tengku Kelana (Little India), Pulau Ketam, Pasar Jawa, traditional gasing games in Bukit Kapar, Laman Seni Safari, and the Klang Chinese Muslim Jamek Mosque. Earlier, Tourism Selangor also signed a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) with Bateriku (M) Sdn Bhd to strengthen the state’s tourism ecosystem. The collaboration emphasizes providing more comprehensive and accessible automotive support, thereby enhancing the safety and comfort of tourists’ journeys. Suee Lim said the initiative aligns with the State Government’s aspiration to develop a tourism ecosystem that is safer, more efficient, and competitive, while strengthening Selangor’s image as a visitor-friendly destination.
