The excitement surrounding the Selangor SUKMA 2026 and Para SUKMA Selangor 2026 continues to build as the Games torch relay arrived at its second location, Padang Laman Seni Safari, on Sunday.
The programme was organised by the Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) in conjunction with the council’s Car-Free Day celebration, attracting an enthusiastic turnout of more than 1,500 participants.
The 3.2-kilometre torch relay commenced shortly after the symbolic handover of the Games torch from representatives of the Shah Alam City Council, led by Deputy Mayor Safriah Md Azhar, to Klang Deputy Mayor Mohd Zary Affendi Mohd Arif.
The atmosphere at the venue was vibrant, with participants from various age groups coming together to take part in the run while igniting the spirit and anticipation ahead of the nation’s largest sporting event.
Apart from promoting the Selangor SUKMA 2026 and Para SUKMA Selangor 2026 Games, the programme also served as a platform to encourage the community to adopt a healthy lifestyle through recreational activities without the use of motor vehicles.
Meanwhile, Mohd Zary revealed that preparations for the competition venues in Klang have now reached 90 per cent completion ahead of the Games, which are set to take place in the near future.
According to him, a total of seven sporting events will be hosted in Klang, with all facilities expected to be fully completed according to the established schedule.
“We are currently on a very positive track. Venue preparations are progressing smoothly, and we are confident that all facilities will be at their best once the Games officially begin,” he said.
With only 84 days remaining before the official opening of the Selangor SUKMA 2026 and Para SUKMA Selangor 2026 Games, the lively torch relay clearly reflected the growing excitement and enthusiasm among the people of Selangor in welcoming the country’s biggest sporting event.
