wanita masih tidak yakin keluar malam, selangor giat tingkat keselamatan

SHAH ALAM, March 31: The level of confidence among women to be outside at night in Selangor remains low, prompting the State Government to intensify comprehensive safety measures this year.

Women’s Development and Social Welfare EXCO Anfaal Saari said only 14 percent of women feel confident going out at night, while nearly half, or 49 percent, feel only “somewhat safe.”

“The rest consider the situation unsafe, showing that women’s safety issues still need serious attention,” she said.

According to her, efforts to improve women’s safety cannot focus solely on individual awareness, but must also involve overall environmental improvements.

“A safe environment requires cooperation from all parties, including local authorities, the community, and the State Government,” she said.

Among the measures taken is the implementation of the Selangor Bercahaya program using solar-powered lights to improve lighting in public areas and reduce crime risk.

She said this during a talk session held in conjunction with the Selangor Women Townhall X Raya event at the Dewan Jubli Perak here. Also present were Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and his wife Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad.

At the same time, the State Government is also paying attention to women’s welfare issues, especially single mothers facing problems with ex-husbands who fail to pay alimony.

Anfaal said a special fund will be reactivated and managed by the Selangor Syariah Judiciary Department (JAKESS) to assist this group.

“This fund will be reopened to ensure single mothers receive appropriate support, especially in the period after divorce,” she said.
