KLANG KEEPS TIERED PAYMENT SYSTEM AS INCENTIVE FOR MOTORISTS TO SETTLE FINES KLANG Royal City Council (MBDK) will maintain its current compound fee structure for parking offences to encourage motorists to settle their fines without delay. Mayor Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain (pic) confirmed that the council intended to keep the minimum roadside parking fine at RM10 under its existing staggered payment system. The “less delay, less need to pay” approach aims to educate the public while offering tiered discounts for early settlement. “Our approach is to educate motorists. “It is an arrangement that aims to encourage prompt payment by offering tiered discounts,” Abd Hamid said. Under the MBDK structure, motorists who pay their fines within one to three days are only charged RM10. The fee rises to RM30 for payments made between four and 14 days, while those who wait 15 days or longer face a maximum penalty of RM300. MBDK Corporate Communications director Norfiza Mahfiz said the system was specifically designed to incentivise motorists to clear outstanding summonses. MBDK issued 490,157 compounds throughout 2025. The trend shows little sign of slowing, with 101,634 compounds already issued across Klang between January and March 15 this year. |
