Unity is the Basic of Prosperity

The Klang Local Authority was established in May 1890 which was then known as the Lembaga Kesihatan Klang to administer the City of Klang. The official boundaries were set in 1895 while in 1926 the area was merged with Port Swettenham and in December 1945 was transformed into the Lembaga Bandaran Klang. The next change in administration occurred when the Majlis Bandaran Klang was formed in 1954. With this administrative system, Klang developed rapidly until 1971 when Port Klang, Kapar and Meru were merged into the Majlis Daerah Klang. With the entry into force of the Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171) and the organization of all local authorities, the Klang District Council was upgraded to the current level of the Majlis Perbandaran Klang (MPK) on January 1, 1977.
